Rethinking the Curb Lane in Center City

Download | 3.2 MB

This report from the CPTMA, CPDC and CCD is part of a continuing conversation about how better to manage traffic congestion in Center City. It builds upon the March 2018 Keep Philadelphia Moving report.

The curb lane on Center City streets is a critical public asset that needs to accommodate multiple functions: bus stops, parking, deliveries, loading zones and bike lanes. But because there has been no comprehensive data base where all current regulations exist, changes have been made piecemeal and are rarely part of a comprehensive look at how to enhance mobility. The report summarizes an important first step: the creation of a unified regulation database that will need routinely to be updated and can serve as the basis for an informed discussion about our transportation priorities.
