Free in February Kicks Off at Dilworth Park on Friday

Presented by Capital One, complimentary passes to the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink

PHILADELPHIA (January 28, 2019) – Starting this Friday, February 1, and for the entire month, visitors to Dilworth Park can ice skate for free thanks to Free in February, presented by Capital One.

All month long, visitors can receive a complimentary admission pass to the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink just for stopping by the Capital One Rittenhouse Café located a few blocks from Dilworth Park at 135 S. 17th Street (17th and Walnut streets). The free skating passes are valid throughout the month of February and do not include skate rental.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 1 and again on Wednesday, February 13, the Capital One Rittenhouse Café staff will visit Dilworth Park to celebrate Free in February with activities, free skating passes and other giveaways.

The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin, and Wintergarden on the Albert M. Greenfield Lawn will remain open through February 24 with a full schedule of special activities, music and happy hours including:

At the Rothman Orthopedics Cabin:

  • Tuesdays through February 19, 6-8 p.m.: Quizzo presented by The Franklin Institute and hosted by Johnny Goodtimes. Features drink specials and prizes each week including free tickets for Quizzo winners to Vikings: Beyond the Legend at The Franklin Institute through March 3.
  • Wednesdays through February 20, 5-7 p.m.: Cocktails and Cold Ones presented by The Met Philadelphia with specially priced EFFEN Vodka cocktails, Bud Light on draft and a selection of wines, plus weekly ticket giveaways from The Met, the historic former Metropolitan Opera House now open on North Broad Street.
  • Thursdays through February 21, 5-9 p.m.: College Nights. Admission is $2 for college students with student ID. (Skate rental not included. Discount not applicable in conjunction with other offers.)
  • Fridays through February 22, 7-10 p.m.: Karaoke Nights powered by Live Nation.
  • Saturdays February 2 and February 9, 11 a.m.-noon. Story Time with Marty the Moose. This kid-favorite character from the Academy of Natural Sciences will be reading silly stories to children. Special snacks and warm drinks will be available for purchase, as well as an ice skating package after the reading.
     

The Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin is a cozy spot for adults and kids to warm up and relax with food and drinks from the Brûlée Catering seasonal menu. Cocktails featuring Maker’s Mark bourbon, local craft beers from Victory Brewing Company and Troegs, and Stella Artois are available for visitors 21 and over. At the Rothman Orthopaedics Rink:

  • Tuesdays through February 19, noon: Center City Fit presented by Rothman Orthopaedics. Free weekly ice skating workouts led by professional trainers.
  • Friday, February 8, 7-10 p.m.: Disco Skate. Live music features the hits of the ’70s and prizes for the grooviest get-up.
  • Thursday, February 14, 4-8 p.m.: Sweetheart Skate. Buy one admission and get one free for a special Valentine’s Day on ice.
  • Every day: Sled Skating, sponsored by Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Adults and children with disabilities can reserve a sled throughout February.
