Jewelers' Row: ‘Silver Linings,’ Dazzling Gems, Theater, Dining & More

Philadelphia’s Jewelers' Row, situated in the heart of Center City, has a starring role for a multitude of reasons. Not only did this charming destination make an appearance in the movie “Silver Linings Playbook” but it is the country’s oldest diamond district, founded in 1851 and comprised of family-owned businesses that have been serving customers for generations. In addition to jewelry and watches that are perfect for gift-giving, Jewelers' Row is a great spot for holiday food, drink and entertainment.

Experience: Families and friends can share some seasonal spirit at the new Broadway adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Walnut Street Theatre. Watching a twirl of Cinderella’s dress on this historic stage, your holiday season will instantly become a little more magical. The show runs until the middle of December so don’t wait until the clock strikes at midnight!

Another great experience that allows you to treat yourself after the bustle of holiday shopping is a day at the spa! Located at 834 Chestnut Street, Body + Beauty Lab by Jefferson Health has won Best of Philly 2021 and was included in America’s Top 20 Med Spas by Gotham Magazine.

Bar & Beverage: Center City District offers an expansive selection of holiday-themed drinking destinations, but nothing quite compares to a milkshake piled higher than Santa’s sleigh at Craftsman Row Saloon, located at 112 South 8th Street. For parents with children, watch their eyes sparkle when a milkshake covered in M&Ms and sprinkles and topped with gingerbread cookies, arrives at your table. Looking for a holiday-themed bar to enjoy drinks with friends? Order a specialty cocktail served in an ornament glass or a peppermint candy-rimmed glass.

Dining: Jewelers' Row and its surrounding neighborhood are a part of a diverse food scene with restaurants that offer everything from farm-to-table concepts to contemporary Japanese cuisine. Some highlights include:

Shopping: With more than 300 stores, Jewelers' Row offers endless options for gems, jewelry, watches and more. Safian & Rudolph at 701 Sansom Street, and D’Antonio & Klein at 726 Sansom Street, are just two of the many jewelry shops nestled in this historic district. On the hunt for a gift for your favorite glam gals? Grab a gift card at Pileggi On The Square Salon at 717 Walnut Street or Lash Pro at 715 Walnut Street. Or indulge your favorite chocoholic’s sweet tooth with a gift from Lore’s Chocolates, a family owned shop that is celebrating 55 years in business. Located at 34 South 7th Street, this old-fashioned candy store is brimming with chocolates made in holiday-themed molds, peppermint bark and much more!
